Bear Hunt Guide

How to use the optimizer, read the results, and understand the recommendations.

Guide v1.0
πŸ“– APX Field Guide

Welcome to the Bear Hunt Optimizer

The APX Bear Hunt Optimizer helps you build stronger Bear Hunt formations by analyzing your troop counts, maximum marches, rally cap, and Rally Leader settings.

The goal is simple: maximize damage, minimize waste, and explain why.

1. Enter Your Troops

Use the troop counts from your Squad tab.

  • 🏹 Total Archers β€” your primary Bear Hunt damage troop.
  • 🐎 Total Cavalry β€” used to fill Formation space efficiently.
  • πŸ›‘οΈ Total Infantry β€” kept low when possible, usually near the preferred 10% target.

Use your full troop totals. Bear Hunt planning assumes marches are recalled and available for the event.

2. Set Your Bear Hunt Settings

  • Maximum Marches β€” the most joiner marches your account can send.
  • Alliance Rally Cap Limit β€” the max troops APX allows per joiner rally.
  • Rally Leader March Size β€” your maximum march size when launching a rally. This is always used to show a recommended Rally Leader Formation reference.
  • Prioritize Rally Leader Formation β€” turn this on when your Rally Leader march should be the priority. Leave it off to optimize joiner Formations first while still showing a Rally Leader Formation reference.
  • Advanced Rally Leader detection β€” when your account can support it, APX Tools can automatically detect the long-term milestone of 1 Infantry, roughly 10% Cavalry, and roughly 90% Archers. This only activates when joiner Formations can remain at 70%+ Archers.

3. Choose Whether Rally Leader Is the Priority

βš”οΈ Default: Joiner First

Best for most players. APX Tools optimizes your joiner Formations first and still displays a recommended Rally Leader Formation for reference.

πŸ‘‘ Prioritize Rally Leader Formation

Use this when your Rally Leader march should be protected first. APX Tools improves the Rally Leader Formation while keeping joiner Formations viable.

4. Press LET'S GOOO!

The optimizer evaluates multiple possible Formations, scores them, then selects the best recommendation based on your settings.

The button also jumps you to the APX Recommended Setup so you can quickly see what to send.

5. Copy Your Recommendation

Use πŸ“‹ Copy Recommendation to copy a Discord-friendly version of your setup.

This is useful if someone asks what APX Tools recommended or if you want to compare setups with alliance members.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why didn't APX Tools recommend all of my marches?

More marches are not always better. If extra marches make each Formation too small or too weak, the optimizer may recommend fewer stronger marches.

Why is Cavalry being substituted?

Cavalry is used to fill unused Formation space after Archer allocation. It helps get closer to the Alliance Rally Cap Limit without overusing Infantry.

Why isn't Infantry exactly 10%?

The 10% Infantry rule is a preferred target, not an absolute hard rule. The optimizer may adjust when troop counts are limited.

What does β€œPlayable, but Not Optimal” mean?

The setup can be used, but APX Tools found limitations that may reduce Bear Hunt damage. The APX Recommended Setup is usually preferred.

Can joiner Formations go above 70% Archers?

Yes. In v2.4.9 RC3, 70% is treated as a strong viability target, not a ceiling. If you have enough Archers, the optimizer can push joiner Formations higher while still keeping the setup practical.

Why does APX Coach stop at 90% Archers?

APX Coach will not recommend reducing marches just to chase 100% Archer joiners. Once a joiner Formation approaches the 90% Archer milestone, the tool treats it as elite and focuses on practical performance instead of perfect-looking math.

Why are my results different from another player?

Recommendations are based on your troop counts, maximum marches, Rally Leader March Size, Alliance Rally Cap Limit, and whether Rally Leader priority is enabled.

Final Notes

APX Tools is designed to guide decisions, not replace player judgment. Heroes, pets, research, gear, and alliance strategy still matter.
